Ownbox Software License

OWNBOX SOFTWARE LICENSE (version 2, 2026-10-27)

You own your Ownbox (the server it runs on, once it is in your own hosting account) and all of your data. The Ownbox software is licensed to you, not sold. AIBM Inc. keeps every right in the software, its source code and every copy of it, except the license this file grants.

1. GRANT. On payment, the business that bought this Ownbox from AIBM Inc. (the buyer on the order, and in licence.json where the box has one) receives a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to run this software on this one Ownbox, for the buyer's own business. "This one Ownbox" includes a server that takes its place: a restore from its backup, or the copy made when the buyer moves it to their own hosting account. One purchase is one Ownbox.

2. YOUR DATA. What your business puts into your Ownbox or makes with it (your Business Brain, conversations, contacts, files and settings) is yours. AIBM Inc. claims no ownership of it.

3. NOT PERMITTED. Without AIBM Inc.'s written permission, you may not:

• a. resell, sublicense, rent, lend, give away or otherwise transfer the software or this license;
• b. copy the software, except onto the one Ownbox in section 1 and into backups of it;
• c. run it for another business, or host it as a service for anyone else;
• d. publish or distribute the software or any part of it, its source code included;
• e. use the software or any part of it to build, train or sell a product or service that competes with Ownbox;
• f. remove or change this license, licence.json, or any copyright or license notice.

4. OTHER PEOPLE'S PARTS. Open-source libraries, fonts and other components that come with the software keep their own licenses, which ship beside them. This license does not change them, and AIBM Inc. claims no ownership of them.

5. YOUR AI. The software runs on your own AI plan or your own API key. The providers bill you directly, and AIBM Inc. never holds your keys.

6. UPDATES. Updates come with Ownbox Managed. An Ownbox outside Managed keeps running as it is.

7. NO WARRANTY. The software is provided as is. The limits of each machine are stated on its page and in README.md, and they are part of what was sold.

8. ENDING. If you break section 3, this license ends and you must stop running the software. Sections 2, 4 and 7 continue after it ends.

9. OTHER AGREEMENTS. This license sits beside the Ownbox Terms at ownbox.io/terms. Where a separate written agreement with AIBM Inc. applies (such as the Ownbox Partner Terms), that agreement decides where the two differ.
