Self-hosted AI
Self-hosted AI
for your business.
Self-hosted AI means the software your AI works in runs on a server you control, not on a vendor's. An Ownbox is set up for you on a server in your name. Your records, your agents' work and the code stay there, and the AI thinks on the Claude or ChatGPT plan you already pay for.
Self-hosted vs SaaS
Most business software is rented: it runs on the vendor's servers, holds your data there, and stops when you stop paying. Self-hosted turns that around.
| Typical SaaS | Ownbox, self-hosted | |
|---|---|---|
| Where your data lives | The vendor's servers | A server in your name |
| How you pay | Every month, often per seat | $499 once, about $12 a month to your host |
| Who can switch it off | The vendor | Only you |
| If the vendor goes away | The software goes with it | Your box keeps running exactly as it is |
| Your AI | The vendor's, billed by them | Your own Claude or ChatGPT account |
What happens to self-hosted software if the vendor goes out of business?
What self-hosted means on an Ownbox
- The box is yoursIt runs on a server in your own account. The server costs about $12 a month, paid to the host, and the account and its bill are in your name.
- We set it upWe install the box on your server and hand it over running. You don't need to open a terminal.
- The AI is your accountIt signs in to the Claude or ChatGPT plan you already pay for; Gemini and Grok are planned. When it drafts, the text it needs goes to that account, under your own terms with that provider.
- Fully on your hardware, if you need itEnterprise adds a dedicated GPU server running a model locally, so your AI runs on your own hardware and your data never leaves it.
Do you need an IT person to run it?
No. Managed Support Services keeps it running for you: every update installed, monitoring and daily backups, and help from the people who built it. Every checkout includes the first three months free, then it's $99 a month, or $199 a month with Pro.
Cancel, and your box keeps running exactly as it is. You stop getting updates and support, and you run it yourself from then on.
What self-hosted AI costs
- $499once, for the Base Machine. No subscription, no seat fees.
- $12a month, about, for the server, paid to the host.
- $0extra for the AI. It runs on the Claude or ChatGPT plan you already pay for.
Pro is $1,599 once, for unlimited people, with both add-on machines. Enterprise, with its own GPU server, is priced for you.
Why we built it this way
People and companies should own their data, or at least have a copy they can take with them and build on. AI agents should work in one contained place, not across every computer in the office. And no business needs another subscription and another silo of data.
Questions about self-hosted AI
What is self-hosted AI?
AI software that runs on a server you control instead of a vendor's. On an Ownbox, your records, your AI employees' work and the code stay on a server in your name.
Does my data leave my server?
Your records stay on it. When the AI drafts something, the text it needs goes to your own Claude or ChatGPT account. On Enterprise, the model runs on your own GPU server, so nothing leaves it.
Is self-hosted AI hard to run?
Not with an Ownbox. We set it up on your server and hand it over running, and Managed Support installs every update and keeps daily backups.
What happens if Ownbox goes out of business?
Your box keeps running exactly as it is. It's on your server, and the code and the data are yours.
What does self-hosted AI cost?
