Claude or ChatGPT: which should my business's AI run on?

Both Claude and ChatGPT work equally well in Ownbox. You choose based on what you already subscribe to. You sign in with your own account from the Ownbox settings, and you pay your vendor directly for AI. Ownbox never bills you for AI calls.

Either one runs your Ownbox with the same capability and performance. The choice is about what you already subscribe to or prefer to use.

How to decide

Pick the AI that you use or plan to use. If you have a Claude subscription or an Anthropic API key, start with Claude. If you use ChatGPT Plus, Pro, or Business, start with ChatGPT. Both are equally supported in Ownbox; neither has an advantage.

Your choice doesn't change your AI costs. You pay your vendor for tokens just as you would if you used Claude or ChatGPT outside Ownbox. Ownbox never bills you for AI.

Setting it up

Once your Ownbox is deployed, go to settings and sign in with your chosen AI:

For Claude:

  1. Paste your Anthropic API key, or sign in with your Claude account
  2. Save

For ChatGPT:

  1. Sign in with your OpenAI account
  2. Save

Every tool and agent in your Ownbox now uses that AI to think through your business context—the shared files and information on your server.

What you pay for

Your vendor (Anthropic or OpenAI) bills you for AI tokens, just as they would if you used their service standalone. Ownbox never bills you for AI calls. Ownbox itself costs the one-time price you chose; if you want managed hosting support, that renews monthly. Two separate charges, two separate vendors.

Why it matters

Both Claude and ChatGPT integrate with Ownbox the same way: they read your business brain—the shared context on your server—and answer or act on it. Your choice of AI doesn't change features, security, or speed. What matters is picking the one you already use, so you don't need a second AI subscription just to get Ownbox running.

Planned support

Gemini and Grok support are on the roadmap. When available, switching will be just as simple.
